Chitrakoot is known for religious, cultural, historical importance. Lord Shri Rama spent most of exile time with mother sita and brother lashmana. Saint Tulsidas also stayed here and wrote one of the major famous Ramcharitmanas at here . It is also said that Lord Rama gave him his divine sight through the blessings of lord hanuman at this place.
Legend behind Hanuman Dhara Temple :
It is said that Lord shri rama incarnated a water wave through his arrow on this hill so that lord hanuman could get relief on his burning tail which got fire when he burnt lanka .
So still a water steam cooling down this idol since years ago . To reach the main temple, one has to climb 360 stairs on hills.
